Contractors Make a Difference at Home

ATP would like to recognize the many contractors who assist with projects, including building ramps, widening doorways, installing vehicles lifts, remodeling bathrooms, etc.

    ATP appreciates contractors for:
  • Caring about consumers and wanting to do quality work
  • Completing projects in a timely manner
  • Suggesting cost effective solutions
  • Willingness to travel extra distance in rural areas
  • Providing quick responses on projects when needed
  • Returning to consumers after job is completed to provide additional assistance
  • Donating extras not included in the plans

ATP provides the following benefits for contractors:
  • Coordination and securing project funding
  • Technology Specialists provide detailed drawings/specifications and obtain plan approval from consumers before projects are started

Wayne Lenhoff, owner of Lenhoff Construction (Lincoln), has worked with ATP since 2001 and enjoys working on projects for ATP, because he feels he is giving something back to consumers and the community. Jim Domingo with Domingo Construction (Crawford) agrees. “I like it because people are so appreciative of what is being done for them,” Jim said. Jim has completed many types of projects from half steps and widening doorways to wheelchair ramps and bathroom modifications.
Ken Gerdes with Active Life (Cozad) builds and installs decks, steps, vertical lifts and wider doorways for ATP consumers out in western Nebraska. “Overall, I think it (ATP) is a fantastic program,” Ken stated. Ken has worked construction for 40 years and recently decided to turn most of his attention to ATP projects. He enjoys the traveling as well as seeing and meeting different people.
ATP continues to look for contractors for entrance modifications, accessible bathrooms and installation of grab bars and railings. Find out how you can submit quotes for projects in your area by contacting ATP at 402.471.0734 or toll free at 888.806.6287, or email atp@atp.ne.gov. Knowledge of lead safe practices and other rehabilitation work is a plus.
